 Metaphysical Newspaper Diabetes in Dogs
 is Mostly Diet Related
By Madeleine Innocent

Regular readers of Natural News are all aware that diabetes in humans is known to be diet related in many, if not most, cases. It seems reasonable to assume the same applies to dogs. Whilst diet alone cannot be held responsible for every single diabetic case, if your dog has an unhealthy diet, there is little hope of being healthy.

Diabetes is considered by mainstream medicine to be incurable and to require regular insulin. Yet, once a healthy diet is implemented, many symptoms clear up, including poor blood sugar levels. The remaining cases will always see an improvement.

So what is healthy dog food? Contrary to popular opinion, it is not commercial dog food. There are various reasons why:

1. In the majority of cases, commercial dog food contains poor quality meat, usually meat by-products from a rendering plant. This means the protein so needed by dogs is not available. The mineral chromium is essential in regulating blood glucose levels. Deficiencies in chromium don’t only lead to diabetes. Nervousness and depression can also appear. Highly processed foods are low in this essential mineral, as are many others. But it is available in quality raw muscle meat, liver and other natural foods.

2. To bulk out this poor quality base, a cheap filler is added. This will be anything that is currently cheap on the world market. It was sugar for a time. But commonly it’s any carbohydrate. Carbohydrates are converted into sugar on digestion. Not good for diabetics.

3. To digest food properly, to regulate insulin and blood sugar levels, enzymes are required. Enzymes are only present in raw foods. Commercial dog food is cooked, often at extreme temperatures and pressures.

4. The highly toxic chemicals, normally banned in human food but added to commercial dog food, include isolated and synthetic nutrients (mostly undigestible), colours, flavours, texture enhancers and preservatives. These do nothing to encourage a healthy dog.

Until you have the diet sorted out, there is little point in treating the diabetes. If the diet is the sole cause, you will see a return of your old dog, or more likely a healthier dog than ever before. Sometimes there is a detoxing period on a diet change over. You may need support while this process occurs, as it can seem your dog’s health is taking a turn for the worst.

Once the change over has occurred and the detoxing period is over (normally this is only a matter of days), then you can determine whether additional treatment is needed. In most cases, especially if it is of recent origin, this is unnecessary. In the few remaining cases, appropriate homeopathic treatment by an experienced professional probably offers the best prognosis.

Dog diabetes is very curable, but you may need a complete change about in how you think to achieve this.
