He Was My Teacher

Thank you for all your well wishes with regards to Kalisad, my baby of 22 years. With his passing, I have come to a new perception of the animal kingdom. For instance, one thing that is certain is our pets give us unconditional love and forgiveness. They protect us both physically and spiritually; they know how to play and have a humorous side to them. When they are ill, many times they will find solitude to rest and regain their health. We could learn so much from them…if we have the awareness to do so.

My question is…how have they evolved into beings that we humans, both individually and as a society have yet to learn? How is it that animals worldwide have expressed unconditional love and to forgive their humans for transgressions against them?

Some would argue that animals work on instinct. Really? Then it’s all the more we need to observe our furry friends and discover their secrets.

I believe that we, as a society and individually, have so much on our plates that we have forgotten the simplicity of life. How many of us no longer have hobbies or have fun? Oh sure, we may go out with friends or to the movies…yet, how often do we take the time?

How do we plug into a more simple life? How can we, from an instinctual point of view, (as our animal friends) live from unconditional love and forgiveness; have fun and time for ourselves; or, come from a place of evolution and awareness?

Animals do naturally what we work so hard to accomplish. If we are looking for teachers…watch the pet kingdom; they may not speak as we do; however, their actions truly speak volumes if we have the wherewithal to recognize it. Perhaps animals are more evolved on these levels than humanity; they indeed live a simplistic life. We on the other hand have a tendency of over thinking our lives, complicating them and creating a stress environment. Learn from the pets…they have much to share with us.

Kalisad was indeed my teacher, my protector and my friend. I took away from this relationship more than I would ever imagine. I only hope that I can evolve to the level of living that he did. How about you? Is your life simple or is your plate overflowing? Only you can answer that and only you can make the conscious decision to change your life.
