Teddy Bear
Medicine
By Regina Murphy
Research has proven that the
earlier we address our children’s fears, phobias and unacceptable
behavior, the better chance they have to overcome them and live a normal
life. Patricia Carrington PhD tells in her book, Tappy Bear, about
children in day care centers as young as 18 months tapping on other
children when they observed their playmates in distress.
In the book, Tappy Bear, EFT Master Patricia Carrington guides parents
through the process of using Emotional Freedom Techniques with their
children using the ever healing Teddy Bear as a surrogate.
One of the things that can be taught to three year olds to benefit the
emotional body is singing and tapping. Using a song in the child’s own
voice brings consciousness into the sound. Children actively participate
in their own healing, giving them a sense of their own ability to alter
how they feel. By using a surrogate for children to tap on, like the
teddy bear, might be the greatest solution to assist children in
altering how they react to stressful situations.
I taught this tapping bear technique to a group of traumatized young
girls. After the session was over, the social worker told me nothing had
worked on this particular girl and was amazed at the immediate results
in bringing her out of her shell. Another session was taught at a
preschool. The following week one young girl was having a tantrum over
her lunch. Another child went up to her and reminded her to tap. The
entire class presentation can be viewed on YouTube. (Ashidosaya)
I was overwhelmed as I read the last issue of a very popular “Parenting”
magazine with all the lists of what to do and not do. Today parents are
faced with so much pressure to do the right thing. There are many
websites advising parents on raising their children. Even the best
websites will scare you with the “Should Not Do” list piled on top of
the “Must Do” lists. Many experts disagree with each other —changing
their positions and recommended techniques from day to day. I was
suddenly very happy that I am in the grandmother phase of my life and my
parenting phase is behind me.
The emotional body has the greatest effect on the mental and physical
body, and yet, the most overlooked. The most powerful names in the
health field are promoting these powerful tapping techniques because
they recognize the benefits to humanity.
In most circles, the rewards for practicing tapping techniques is not
monetary; rather it is in helping others, especially children, live a
more health-filled life without drugs.
Tapping has become so wide-spread that if one were to do a Google search
on tapping for the emotions, a world of free manuals, YouTube’s and
protocols would fill your screen many times over. By educating
ourselves, we can move forward with knowledge and confidence in our
choice of using this powerful tapping modality.
If we care about the new children being born and have a chance to
influence their lives in any way, this would be a greater gift than a
new video game or a pretty dress from the latest designer.
It is believed by many experts in the field of Traditional Chinese
medicine that:
The emotions of the parents, especially at the moment of conception, are
carried into the emotional body of the child in a most profound way
through the “Extraordinary Vessels”. These are the first meridians which
are formed in the uterus.
It has been validated that whatever both parents are experiencing
emotionally during the pregnancy is felt by the unborn child.
When a child is born, their emotional bond was a result of having
physical contact with the mother; i.e., being placed within her arms and
nurtured. With medical intervention at birth in the last century, i.e.,
the child is removed and placed in a sterile environment, it has caused
a great deal of emotional damage. Of course, in certain circumstances,
there are many lives saved by these modern interventions.
If you really consider these facts, the implications are very
enlightening and could explain why nine out of ten prescriptions for
children and adults are for depression and anxiety and why the behavior
of our children leaves us perplexed and with a helpless feeling.
Another shocking fact is that if a mother has concerns about her child’s
emotional welfare and does a Google search about it, she will find
endless coupons for amphetamines that can cause so much harm. They NEVER
publish data on the thirty million children already given these drugs.
Yet, before you place your child on ADHD drugs, please read the warning
label and side-effects…it will curdle your blood. Unfortunately, the
trusted physician will be happy to give you samples and start your child
on a lifetime of dangerous prescriptions that never address the
emotional body.
The one thing everyone seems to agree on is that the “Tapping
Techniques” used by professionals doesn’t hurt. They may disagree on the
extent that they work or even how they work, but no one can come up with
a reason NOT to tap. Maybe Tappy Bear is the best elixir for the
children’s emotional problems.
“Teddy Bear Medicine” is available without a prescription and has no
harmful side effects. So before you put your children on dangerous and
toxic medication, explore the alternative, safe modality of tapping. It
is a powerful method that can solve so many issues in life.
