See It Right
By Sophia Falke
I was talking to a buddy recently
who said, “I could make $3,200 in commission in one week, but that won’t
happen because the economy is so bad.” My first thought when I heard him
was, “Of course you won’t, because that is what you believe.”
I started to suggest that seeing the situation differently might change
the outcome; however, from his response, I didn’t think he was receptive
to looking at a new way of seeing the situation. I did manage to slip in
two examples of people I know who have successfully used visualization
to increase their sales commissions. Then I got off the topic, hoping
perhaps a seed had been planted and recognizing that his journey is not
mine.
Wayne Dyer wrote the book, You’ll See It When You Believe It. Dyer was
saying that what we believe is what will show up in our lives. Napoleon
Hill’s classic, Think and Grow Rich, spoke of the power of our thoughts.
More recently we’ve heard of “the law of attraction.” Yet there are many
of us that still believe in the power of the “outer,” over the power of
the “inner.” We get caught up in the doom and gloom of the press, the
government, the economists, and our neighbors (the outer) rather than
drawing from the strength of our own consciousness to see things “right”
(the inner).
We live in an abundant universe from which to draw our good. Our good
comes to us at the level we are open and willing to receive it. And the
universe always says “Yes!” If I say, I want to be a millionaire, the
universe starts mobilizing its abundance to come rushing to me. But if
in the next thought I say, “Oh my, I don’t think I can pay my bills this
month.” The universe hears this new statement of belief and says “Yes!”
and cancels the order for my million dollars.
The question for me is, “How do I want to see my world?” Do I want to
see it right or do I see it from a place of lack and limitation? The
“inner” expresses in the “outer” every time. That means my friend that
didn’t believe he could make $3,200 per week in commission had a
particular belief system that tells the Universe that he’s not yet ready
to accept his good. The universe said “Yes!” and will continue to say
“Yes!” until he changes how he sees his situation.
Quantum physics tells us that at any given moment, infinite
possibilities are present. Yet the moment we focus on one of those
possibilities, the rest disappear. In other words, we can only focus on
one thing at a time and no other possibility can exist once we decide to
believe in the one.
Drink that in for a moment. We live in a field of infinite
possibilities. For many people, that’s a leap in thinking that is more
cavernous and frightening than jumping the Grand Canyon on a motorcycle.
Others will point to the economy, their employment status, their
relationships, or their health and respond to my statement with “You
must be nuts! If you were in my shoes, you’d know better.” Actually, I
have been in those shoes on many fronts; and I have big feet, so I have
had my share of disastrous relationships, long-term unemployment, loss
of people very dear to me, emotional dark nights of the soul, health
challenges, and more. I remained in the grief and darkness of those
situations as long as I focused on the pain and the feelings of
helplessness, hopelessness, fear, and doubt.
Joe Btfsplk, a character in the old comic strip Lil Abner, walks around
with a dark cloud over his head. Nothing ever seems to go right for him.
Ever known someone like that…or even felt that way yourself? It’s seeing
the world through a dark cloud of misperception. It’s a painful world,
lacking in joy and hope.
But there is hope. We have choice: Live in Joe Btfsplk’s world or live
in an abundant universe that is passionate to shower us with prosperity
in every area of our life. To me the choice is obvious. Choose
abundance! But I didn’t get to this point overnight. I’ve spent time as
Joe Btfsplk, with no clue that there was another way to live. Slowly I
began to notice that the joyous, prosperous people—the ones whose light
shone brightly enough to pierce my dark cloud—shared a common trait.
They saw things right, viewing their lives and the world around them
through a green lens of joy, hope, and abundance.
It was a slow process. One thought at a time. Instead of always waiting
for the other shoe to fall, I began allowing good experiences to be
good. Instead of going to the place of anger or fear, I started
considering the possibility that my negative experiences were more about
me than the person or situation. There were many times when I thought I
had finally, totally stepped into the light, seeing things right all the
time. Then someone or something would show up to teach me that there was
still work to do. But each time, my recovery time was shorter and
easier. See it right. See it right. See it right. And slowly but surely
each situation would turn out “right.”
We are powerful beyond anything we can imagine. We have the power to
create whatever experience we accept as true. It’s a choice…see it right
or see it through the lens of lack. The only limitations on what we can
achieve are the limitations we place on ourselves. When we believe it,
yes, we will see that it’s true.
