Why Is This Happening To Me?
By Michelene K. Bell
Recently I watched the movie, “Conversations With God”. It’s the true story of Neale Donald Walsch who had everything — only to lose it all and travel down a road of despair, homelessness and self-doubt.
His question of “why is this happening to me” seemed to go unanswered…and thus his struggles continued. When he was at the end of his rope, with nowhere to go, Neale had an epiphany. As he lay sleeping the voice of God awakened him, asking, “have you had enough?” In disbelief, Neale struggled to grasp the magnitude of the task that was being given to him and he questioned…God, talking to me? Really?
Conversations with God is about one man’s journey of discovering himself. He is, on many levels, a reflection of humanity as a whole.
We can have everything and lose it or we can have nothing and gain everything. Whether it be material gain or the epiphany of God realization, the outcome can be a tremendous opportunity for growth.
Life is like a huge puzzle. Each piece is designed to fit together with one another and thus a tapestry of one’s life is created. As we put this collage on the table of our own making, at times, we may find ourselves too close to view the bigger picture. We aren’t seeing outside the box and if we get stuck we might find ourselves asking the question Neale asked, “why is this happening to me?”
It is important to remember that in the creation of our life, we place what pieces fit together. This is done on a conscious, intuitive or soul level…it is not a random act. The responsibility resides with us alone…not outside circumstances. Whether we are in the right place at the right time (or the wrong place as the saying goes) is a choice we made. If we decide to be in a space that is loving, compassionate, joyful etc., our energy will attract the same type of vibration. That is universal law…like attracts like. And yes, it is a worn statement and we may be tired of hearing it; however, it does not mean it is not true.
We may question why certain situations exist in our lives. I know that I do. I am then reminded of the movie, “Pay It Forward.” Down through life we ask for miracles, for abundance, good health, relationships. I believe our prayers are heard and unless we rescind our requests from days of old, the heavenly forces are still working to bring us what we asked for.
So, for every negative emotion or thought we have expressed it may only now be coming to the forefront of our life. And that is why it is vital we become guardians of our thoughts, our emotions and our actions.
Ultimately, in the end, Neale took responsibility for all his actions…as must we. His questioning of a God and “why him”, changed his life.
So my friends, as we weave the tapestry of our lives, may it become a masterpiece of life’s best.
Peace, joy and many blessings,
Michelene
