Guide To The Seven Chakras

The seven chakras of the body are the energy centers that help us live our lives in a balanced and healthy manner. Below are the attributes of this amazing energy matrix field of life.

The Root Chakra—Red (Muladhara/Support) Ruling Planet: Mars. Location: base of the spine. Governs: the spine, blood and nervous system. Stones: black or brown obsidian or bloodstone. Sound: say the tone e like red in meditation.

The 1st chakra is your foundation. The center for physical vitality and manifestation, it is a source of strength and sometimes anger (does not mean destructive expression of anger). A blocked root chakra can signify: greediness, unappreciative of what you have, a sense of being needy or clingy. A balanced root chakra means you are centered, healthy and fully alive. 

The Sacral Chakra—Orange (Svadisthana/Abode of the Vital Force) Ruling Planet: Mercury. Location: below the belly button. Governs: the skin, kidneys, and female reproductive organs. Stones: orange carnelian. Sound: say tone o like home.

The 2nd chakra is your center of desires and sexual energy. It also relates to self-worth, intuition, creativity and scalability. Your orange chakra energy is a great source of physical prowess. An unbalanced sacral chakra means obsessive behavior, despair, emotionally bankrupt. A balanced sacral chakra means you’re friendly, attuned to your feelings, and confident.

The Solar Plexus Chakra—Yellow (Manipuraka/Jewel of the Naval) Ruling Planet: Sun. Location: above the belly button. Governs: the diaphragm and breath, adrenals and digestive organs. Stones: citrine or rose quartz: Sound: say tone a-o-m like ahh-oo-mmm.

The 3rd chakra is your Sun Center of personal power. This is where you find your own gifts. An unhealthy 3rd chakra can cause you to make wrong decisions and you have a tendency to become a workaholic with little time for play. A balanced 3rd chakra means you radiate warmth, acceptance and relaxation from the center of your being. You are in touch with your gifts and strong with personal power while still respecting others.

The Heart Chakra—Green (Anahatha/Unbeaten) Ruling Planet: Venus. Location: the center of your chest. Governs: heart, lungs, immune system, thymus and lymph glands. Stones: rose quartz and green aventurine. Sound: say a like ah.

The 4th chakra is where we give and receive love. There are two love energies the mother/female love we associate with pink and the masculine/father love with green. A center of compassion, when fully open, you are able to transcend the ego. An unbalanced 4th chakra can indicate a closed attitude, feelings of loneliness, control issues and difficulty maintaining friendships. When the heart chakra is balanced you are able to give and receive love, see the good in people and are in touch with your true feelings. 

The Throat Chakra—Blue (Visshuda/Pure) Ruling Planet: Jupiter. Location: bottom of the neck. Governs: throat, thyroid, nerves, eyes and muscles. Stones: blue lace agate, sodalite or lapis lazuli. Sound: say u like in blue.

The 5th chakra is the center of communication, and is the beginning of the upper chakras (which relate to the spiritual realm while the lower relate to the physical with the heart being the balance). It relates very much to artistic endeavors. Blockage of the 5th chakra can make you appear shy and having a hard time to say what you mean. You can also feel intimidated by others and yet at times you tend to be over talkative instead of the listener. A balanced throat chakra means you are able to express yourself easily, you grasp spiritual concepts, you are content and inspired.

The Third Eye Chakra—Indigo (Ajna/Command) Ruling Planet: Saturn. Location: either at the base of the skull (by the medulla oblongata) or at third eye in front. Governs: the pineal and pituitary glands, brain and ears. Stones: Amethyst and lapis. Sound: say om like home.

The 6th chakra is the center of physic power or higher intuition. Through this chakra you receive guidance and are able to communicate with beings on another realm. Once the third eye chakra is fully opened your physical and spiritual vision will merge into one unified view. The unbalanced Third Eye Chakra can show a closed mind or trouble with concentrating. Balanced third eye chakra will enable you to experience the Cosmic Consciousness, release attachment to material things, experience clairvoyance and may lead you to guide others in a charismatic way as you become a master of yourself. 

The Crown Chakra—Violet, White, Silver, Gold (Sahasrara/thousand-petaled lotus) Ruling Planet: Kelu. Location: the crown of the head. Governs: the nervous system, brain and pituitary and pineal glands. Stone: clear quartz. Sound: say e as in bee.

This is our connection with the divine. Imagine a white light flowing from and returning to the top of your head. The Crown Chakra, when out-of-balance enhances feelings of unhappiness and being alone. Decision making can be more difficult and can lead to unwise choices. A fully open 7th chakra is the highest form of spiritual enlightenment. The ego falls way to spiritual power. You transcend the physical realm. On a more daily basis the crown chakra energy allows us to exist more spiritually and connect to the divine.
