An Awakening Society

According to Kahu Fred Sterling, “TV will finally become a wave of information supporting the metaphysical community, and in this, will allow the seeker the courage to ask questions…” (read ILT Dec. 2005 Looking Toward the Shift).

Although television is for information and entertainment purposes it does serve another function. Whether shows are breaking news, fictional, truth bearing, or historical in nature, they provide us with the opportunity to examine our values, beliefs and possible futures.

Television gives us the luxury of relaxation. A place where we can laugh, cry, feel compassion, and learn of events happening far and wide across the globe. It isn’t just about the news — it’s about humanity as a whole. Think about it, every life contingency is eventually covered through television technology.

It is true that we are seeing a greater number of shows which depict life with more of a metaphysical flair. People are being drawn into story plots of shows like Heroes, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Six Degrees, the Dead Zone and more. Are these shows just to entertain us or do they carry a message of some truth for our psyche? I, for one, find myself fascinated with their premise and the metaphysical force behind the storylines. They challenge my beliefs and perceptions and allows me to explore my soul’s longing for clarity. 

We are a growing civilization that is seeking answers to life’s mysteries…where we come from; what is our purpose; is there life after death? Programs like, Heroes, Six Degrees, Ghost Whisperer, etc., all provide us with a glimpse into other realms of reality. It isn’t so much about television as it is about an awakening society. People are consciously making choices to go beyond the limited teachings of the past. New generations are bringing to the table ancient knowledge — all wrapped in a beautiful, new package. It is one of hope and promise of a new world to come.

Being a society of seers and visionaries has always been our birthright. Deeply buried within our being this truth resides and perhaps that is why shows like, The Dead Zone, Medium, The 4400 or The Outer Limits capture our attention. I only vaguely understood my love for shows like the Twilight Zone, Lost in Space, Star Trek, Star Wars and so many others. I now know it was my soul prompting me to awaken to the true spiritual being that walks this Earth in a physical body.

There are great possibilities before us…may we let the truth of who we are resonate with the reality of Spirit.
