About this month's cover artwork:
VICTORIAN WITCH:
I wanted to create something other than the negative “spoof” on witches! In my research “witch” actually translates as “wise one/healer”. Granted some “wise ones” were old and hunch backed but they had many young women learning the art of healing from them. They were our early midwifes and such. I just put my own positive “spoof” on things with a lovely young lady in beautiful Victorian clothing! What fun.
Artist bio - Ancient cultures, myth and magick are the basic core elements that inspire my artwork. Fascinated with symbolic mythology, I try to weave a bit of symbolism into every painting. I want to create artwork that draws the viewer in, unfolding and revealing its meaning slowly. The romantic drama of the Pre-Raphaelites has always mesmerized me. My love of the medieval era with its art, history, peoples and legends influence not only my artwork but also crosses over into my everyday life.
