Three Spiritual Paths Visited
ECKANKAR
Eckankar, the Religion of the Light and Sound of God, teaches simple spiritual exercises to experience God’s love in this lifetime. Through divine love, one gains wisdom, charity and freedom. These exercises help to open oneself to the Holy Spirit, or the Eck, which is the life force of God that flows through all worlds and all things.
Eckankar is a religion that is based on the simple truth that Soul exists because God loves it; that the whole purpose of the teachings of Eckankar is to help followers make connection with this life force, and find their way back to God. Eckankar teaches that God is a loving God. This world is simply a school for Soul, and the lesson is to learn how to love and receive love. The things that happen on the planet are not the actions of God. They are the actions of people who are struggling with life’s lessons. It is through the many lifetimes that each person progresses to the fuller realization of his or her innate god-like qualities.
Students of this teaching are not asked to take anything on faith, but rather find out for themselves through their own personal experiences with the spiritual exercises of Eck. They are taught to sing HU (pronounced like hue), either silently or out loud, which is an ancient name for God that opens you to a higher state of consciousness.
We look within and listen for the light and sound while singing this beautiful love song to God. When we do this regularly for about twenty minutes a day, we make contact with Holy Spirit.
The original founder, Paul Twitchell brought Eckankar to the western world in 1965. Eckankar, The Light and Sound of God, is a religions that has been handed down since ancient times…its’ traditions being the backbone of millions worldwide.
Sri Harold Klemp is the present-day spiritual leader of Eckankar, and is referred to as the Mahanta, the Living Eck Master. It is his mission to reach those who are ready for another step on their spiritual journey. To realize, on a consciousness level, the workings of God in their day-to-day lives. Sri Harold Klemp leads seminars around the world and is responsible for guiding the evolution of Eckankar, including how to apply faith and spirituality to events in everyday life. Members of this religion say that their hearts and minds are opened to a deeper understanding of life. “The point is to live life with a loving and grateful heart” (a quote from, A Modern Prophet Answers Your Key Questions About Life, by Sri Harold Klemp).
