I think we have all heard the phrase, “when life hands you a lemon make lemonade”. Rather than sitting around with that lemon in our hands we can explore the possibilities of all the uses it can afford us. If we look at the exterior of the lemon one will find a bumpy thick-skinned outer layer yet on the other hand its’ bright yellow color speaks to us on some level…and no, I’m not losing it…I assure you my lemonade is just fine.

Really though, life is all about discovery. “Lemons” are nothing more than life’s way of presenting us with ways to move beyond our current circumstances — catapulting us into uncharted waters of growth potential. We are literally rewriting our script with each new challenge we face…and that of course is key. We must confront our missteps, our fears and beliefs from a different vantage point.

I have a dear friend whom I admire for her ability to make lemonade whenever she is handed a lemon. She is always seeking the “silver-lining” and looking for a different outlet which will allow her to move beyond the “lemon syndrome.”

I believe everything we go through is not coincidental to where we are today. Each tiny piece of the puzzle we participated in creating builds upon the next layer of evolution. So, no matter how frustrating we may feel about life and circumstances around us, it is important to remember that all things change with time.

Recall the old saying, “the devil made me do it”. Well, the saying isn’t as important as our recognizing that we chose within that moment to react to a condition. We ultimately were responsible and we helped create our new future event. Think about it, whatever we formulated in our younger years may just now be catching up with us. What we wanted “way back when” has finally found a way to manifest. The only question being, do we recognize the manifestation for what it is…our desires, our hopes and our well-intended plans from years long ago.? Or do we look upon the manifestation in confused wonder as to why this is happening?

Life is a mystery and we are its’ players, it’s critics and its’ audience. So when we have a basket of lemons staring us in the face, let us not grouse about it…rather we can take the time and make lemonade. It can be a refreshing approach to living on the edge of life.

Savor the lemonade…the victories over supposed lemons, and rewrite the script for the evolution of humanity.
