As I was growing, up way back when, I was taught not to ask for things. I heard phrases such as, “if wishes were horses, poor beggars would ride,” or “children should be seen, and not heard.” Of course, “money doesn’t grow on trees” my mom would say. But that can’t be true since money, a paper product, must come from trees! Just joking.

From infancy to childhood, from teenage years into adulthood, life’s experiences help shape us into who we are today.

Whether our lives are filled with fond memories or those that we wish to forget everything we have encountered along our path is the bases of our foundation. Our minds, like that of a computer, has a data storage unit which is accessible with the merest of effort.

How often I have, and still do, play those old tapes in my head — many times not even being aware of them. What I was endocrined with as I grew up became so ingrained within my mind, that I lived my life out of habit. The good news is…habits are not cast in stone and when recognized, change can occur.

How often do we hit the “play” button on an old recording that we have stored in our memory? Perhaps it would be better to hit the “erase” or “re-record” button instead — thus giving us a difference choice of action.

Life is not one-sided. The flow of life-giving energy, (when life is good), and the gap between our world of lessons, (life is challenging), creates a balance in which we are given the opportunity to record a new life scenario.

Without the flow or the gap life would become mono-toned and unbalanced. As long as the pendulum continues swinging balance is maintained. Experiencing conflict helps us understand peace. Comprehending fear helps us embrace love. Being in the “gap” of life challenges allows us to enjoy the “flow” of life-giving energy.

If we are living our lives out of habit, of what once was, then we do ourselves a disservice. We are more than the sum total of our thoughts and when we recognize and embrace our wholeness, we can truly erase the tapes of our habitual lives. I encourage us all to seek new adventures, make different choices and soar to the heights of renewed beginnings.

Have a wonderful Spring Season, and least I forget, to all Mother’s everywhere…stand and be counted. For you are the “rays” of sunshine that brings light” into our world. Happy Mother’s Day. Take care

Michelene
