By Takara (Copyright © 2004 Spirit of Nature) From a purely biological perspective, dolphins are air-breathing mammals that inhabit the ocean. They have the ability to swim so fast they can propel themselves out of the water and perform somersaults. They also make funny little clicking sounds. Although interesting, that information hardly explains why many humans find them so fascinating that it borders on obsession. Why do people love them so much? Perhaps it’s because: • seeing a dolphin leap high into the air makes people of all ages squeal with delight. • many autistic children suddenly become more responsive after swimming with them. • a person who’s normally terrified of water feels completely at peace when dolphins are present. • people often exhibit the same brain wave pattern as an experienced meditator after swimming with dolphins only once — even if they’ve never meditated before. • they’re such good midwives — no kidding! • most dolphin trainers admit (off the record of course) that dolphins are much more than circus animals and they’ve had at least one experience with the dolphins they describe as spiritual or extraordinary. • practically every person who’s been with them in the water says the experience completely changed their life. Dolphins have, for centuries, greatly impacted numerous civilizations…and still are. There have been reports of dolphins saving fishermen from drowning and also assisting them in finding fish. The Dogon tribe of Africa has an amazing record of the stars and their locations without having any type of instruments to even see some of the things they have records for. When asked how they could possibly know such things, they say their legends indicate that dolphin beings taught it to them a very long time ago. A group of Aborigines from Australia call themselves “the dolphin dreamers.” Throughout Greece there are still countless drawings, carvings, and mosaics of dolphins. There is an entire dwelling dedicated to them called “The House of Dolphins.” And of course there’s the very famous Oracle at Delphi. So, who are the dolphins really? And why do they still receive so much human attention? I find those questions pretty challenging to answer. After years of interaction, study, and telepathic communication, I feel I only grasp, or understand, a fraction of who they really are. How do I go about describing a being, or more aptly a consciousness, that is more advanced than I am? Of course I’d have to say that dolphins are extraordinary healers. The comments concerning autistic children, brain wave patterns, midwifery, and numerous other forms of healing are very commonplace. But for me, first and foremost they are teachers. You may ask, “How is that even possible? I mean how can an animal teach anything when it lives in the ocean and can’t speak the language?” Takaram author, speaker, industrial engineer, and metaphysician is the creator of Dancing Dolphin Essences.
