Happy New Year!

I am really looking forward to January and the New Year. Oh, the opportunities that abound! Just think of it, a new and shining future that plays itself out in our dreams and “our New Year’s resolutions.” Of course I have given up making resolutions because I don’t seem to keep them. I prefer now to make “goals” — for me, a more positive vibration…one geared towards success.

I would like to ask a few questions if I may. What exactly would you like to see transpire in 2004? An end to the war? Absolutely! More prosperity? You bet! Stronger and more loving relationships? Yes, without a doubt! A brighter future all around? Most definitely!

My next question is, if these are our projections, then what goals have we, as individuals, put into place in order to realize each of these desires?

I am not speaking of the typical “New Year’s resolutions” which 75-90% of us allow to fall by the wayside. What I am eluding to are the practical, realistic steps needed to actualize our plans for a better tomorrow — both individually and globally.

How committed are we to exact change in our world and the world around us?

When we are seeking a particular outcome from our goals, we must remember to be patient and not jump from “A to Z” — missing the in-between steps.

So often I find myself wanting immediate results without doing the necessary planning to see that the goals are accomplished. Of course if my goals are too “unrealistic” my mind has a tendency to sabotage the project — mainly because I did not take logical and practical steps to bring the knowledge needed to allow the mind to believe the feasibility of the outcome.

There are many elements when making goals. Believability, (especially for the mind) commitment, practicality, and the driving force of emotions. I also believe that one of the ingredients to success of goal setting is the ability to not judge as-well-as detachment from the outcome. Also to have fun and be spontaneous from time to time is just as important for if it becomes a “drudgery” then the goal will not be met with the sweetness of victory.

Goals can indeed be reached when we bridge the gap between the mind, the heart and the emotions.

Then again…these are only my opinions in the scheme of my life. This is my viewing of goals and only at this moment in time…subject to change of course!

And so, if you are inclined to set goals for the coming year, remember, it is all in the perception as to what that looks like for you.

May 2004 bring a sense of renewed hope, world peace and an end to the war we fight each day between our hearts and our minds. Again, Happy New Year!

Take care,

Michelene
