By Michele Avanti, NCGR "To everything there is a season..." the Bible says and we humans bear witnesses to this truth. Seasons come in every form. We often call them cycles but what reference points do we have to understand the cycles? Are mystics the only ones who can access the future? No. Humans have studied the cycles of nature, human development, government and economics for centuries. Our degree of success comes from these studies. Seven, a primary number, also carries primary importance as a cycle. In the Bible it is so often repeated we know it must hold a supreme importance. The sum of all the words in the Bible is evenly divisible by seven, as is the number of words beginning with a consonant and the number of words beginning with a vowel! So what is the greater power behind this? In Genesis, it says "And God…made the stars also, and God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the Earth…" The word light is filled with meaning outside its physical value. Light is part of enlightenment and carries the context of insight, understanding, awareness, etc. Based on this information let’s look at the stars and ask what insights they provide or secrets they reveal. In our solar system, there are nine known planets, each in orbit around the sun. Working with the number seven, let’s look at the seventh planet from the sun. It is Uranus which takes eighty-four years to go around the sun. Divide that by twelve and you get seven again. Since the zodiac consists of twelve signs, this means Uranus spends seven years in each of them. Each sign consists of a constellation of stars steeped in ancient myths that give us the legend of the heavens. Thus, if we investigate the mythic story behind each sign of the zodiac, we should discover the secrets Uranus may deliver in its seven year cycles. Additionally it embodies the number seven; the character of the planet itself may give clues to its nature. Uranus is the only planet that revolves counter-clockwise. This certainly makes it stand out as odd. Will this planet bring unusual events, rebellions, eccentricities, breakthroughs, upheavals and thus change? That is exactly what astrologers claim it does. Astrologers, who have been watching and recording events connected to the stars for over 4,000 years, tell us that each planet has its own mythic tale and as they travel through a particular region of the sky or zodiac, the planetary myth will come alive colored by that astrological sign’s story. Considering these facts, which were taken very seriously by ancient peoples, we can examine the possibilities of the new seven year cycle we will enter on March 10, 2003, as Uranus begins its journey into Pisces (the sign of the fishes.) |
