Greetings, since being out of the hospital I have found that my new lifestyle is something that takes time to get use to. When you have spent most of your life as a “junk food” addict, eating properly and finding a balance between work and rest or recreation can be quite challenging.

By being a workaholic most of my adulthood, I have kept myself from exploring other avenues of life. Being busy all the time leaves little room for self-exploration.

Yes, life can be challenging for all of us. Although I am still a workaholic there is a new awareness to that fact and this brings the realization that there needs to be balance and moderation in whatever we do.

When was the last time you evaluated your average day? Besides work was there a time for relaxation and fun or laughter? Did you remember to do something for yourself? On a scale of one to ten where would you rate yourself? What would you like to see changed and are you willing to take the necessary steps to make those changes?

Getting started, being honest with where you are in your daily experiences requires discipline and patience. It would probably be an eye opener if we were to sit down with pad and pencil and make that list of daily experiences. How would your balance meter read? Why not try it and see for yourself where you life fits in the scheme of the world. What does your world look like?

For me unless I become disciplined in this new way of self-care I can easily return to old habits that are detrimental to ones health – physically, emotionally and mentally.

Life is precious and when we find a balance within all arenas I believe we will be living to our fullest and highest potential.

Thank you for your continued prayers, support and understanding. It is a comfort in knowing that with each month I am getting closer to being on track and at the same time getting stronger. Having to learn how to balance work with rest and fun is not as easy as one might imagine but I am learning patience!

My prayer for all is that as the holidays draw near that you each find in your hearts the love and peace of Spirit. May this Thanksgiving month remind us that we are all in this world together and to share our many blessings with those we touch.

Happy ThanksGiving!

Take care,

Michelene

My dear friends, as most of you know I was hospitalized this summer with a very serious condition. As I struggle to regain my health and to get the paper back on schedule, I want you all to know how very much your prayers and continued patience means to me.

On those days when I find myself less than optimistic over my present circumstances, I read and re-read the creed I have reprinted for you below. It is my hope that it brings to you the courage and inspiration it has brought me.

I trust, as you are reading these words that you find within your heart a love and joy for who you are. Again, thank you for your ongoing support.

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself . . .

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Written by Christian D. Larson in 1912 and adopted by Optimist International in 1922

Take care and many blessings.
