Damanhur…
   A 4th Dimensional Journey

For years my friend and I had been talking about taking a journey into the extraordinary reality of Damanhur, and every year, for at least five years, we found all the reasons why we couldn’t go; the time, the money, the distance of the journey, responsibilities to others, “someday we’ll go”. It was our deep calling and we knew it would happen, we just didn’t know when or how. After all a trip to Italy seemed just for pleasure (so we thought) and we all know how the just for pleasure part of our life usually ends up…on hold or the back burner.

Now LIFE could never be on hold again. Within a shift of one hour, the thought of not living a life that I am grateful for every day was no longer an option. The thought of suddenly being on the other side of life and wishing I had made choices with much more intrinsic value was something I had come to a new understanding of. September 11th was an indication that “life” was on high alert and change was in order. It’s not that I didn’t already have a good life. I was married, healthy, owned a commercial advertising agency and video production company. It’s not that I didn’t have what looked to be a very successful life, it’s that I knew there was more.

Within thirty days Devi and I were off for the journey of a lifetime even though the United States was on its’ highest state of alert. With no reservation, we declared to each other, it was time to move to the next level. It was time to activate the essence of who we truly were, to connect deeply with the greater mysteries of life.

The flight was fairly uneventful. In fact, it was so smooth and people were so warm to each other, we could see that 9/11 had a powerful effect on humanity. People cared and they showed it. Devi and I were like two children on an exploration to another dimension. We knew that what we were about to experience was multidimensional and it would open our inner senses and change our lives forever; it was the pulling of destiny.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS

A beautiful northern Italian man by the name of Passero (Sparrow) greeted us. He was warm, friendly and funny — even though he spoke very little English. As the pick-up and delivery person for Damanhur, Passero negotiated traffic with great ease and quickness — like that of a sparrow. He enjoys raising horses and is an incredible architectural artist as well. In Damanhur it appears that everyone does everything and I loved the fact that they are not an ego driven society and they are about the whole of humankind.

Another interesting fact about the people of Damanhur is that many of them take on animal and plant names. It is their belief that our name carries a certain vibration and when we reinvent our name we are validating a desire for new beginnings. By recognizing or honoring the animal or plant name chosen, the people believe that there is a deeper identification with the inhabitants of the planet as well as to breath in the symphony of nature.

After we arrived safely at the historic hotel in Turin we bedded down for the night. It was remarkable how we could see the ages of Italy in this very fast paced city and in the morning we met with our journey friends of thirteen fellow seekers.
