Fourteen Lessons

1. Give advice only when asked, and then tell the truth.

2. Don’t ask someone to do something for you that can do for yourself. Also do not do something for someone if they can do it themselves. Sometimes we get lazy and want others to do for us things we are completely capable of doing without aid.

3. Always be aware of your intent. You want to donate money to a charity. Is it your intention to actually help that charity or is it your intention to make yourself look generous to your friends. Know your intentions.

4. Don’t do anything today that will cause problems tomorrow.

5. For a better tomorrow, do something today to create it.

6. Don’t take everything so personal.

7. Live in the present. We poison the present by dreading something in the future or regretting something from the past.

8. Choose your own actions instead of letting others cause you to react.

9. Don’t do a favor for someone if you can’t do it happily or sincerely.

10. If someone compliments you accept it graciously without making a negative comment. If I tell you your haircut looks nice, don’t proceed to say “well it was cut too short, I don’t really like it” or “they did not really cut it the way I wanted.” A “Thank You” from you is all that needs to be said.

11. Create the life that works for you. Not the one someone else has or the one society tells you that you should have. Someone else’s life may look great to you but you are on the outside looking in and that life may not be as great as it appears. People wear masks to hide the negative side of their lives they don’t want others to see. Therefore you only see what they allow you to see.

12. Because people often wear masks when speaking to each other they may say one thing yet do another. As you spend time with someone you can often get to know the real person by paying attention to their actions.

13. Don’t be envious of anything someone else has because the universe is an endless supply of wealth. You can achieve any of your desires with effort.

14. Know your own self-worth. Know that you are great simply because you are. Know that you are great because you are the child of the Creator—created in His/Her image.
