Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood

One of the most captivating movies ever, graces our big screens this summer. An all-star line up of women in film Sandra Bullock as the daughter to Ellen Burstyn, an aging version of her younger, flamboyant self, portrayed in insightful, and powerfully acted flashbacks featuring Ashley Judd, who actually has to do the most acting with angst besides Sandra. James Garner is his magnificent best as the loving and savvy husband of Burstyn. Maggie Smith shines, as does Fionula Flanagan as the other two aging members of the sisterhood. Simply not to be missed on the big screen with all the trimmings. All Girl, Gaylord and Sisterhood production, distributed by Warner Brothers.

METAPHYSICAL OVERVIEW
Like mother, like daughter—literally, though it takes them a few heartfelt moments to appreciate the pleasant differences of their personalities and come to peace with each other.

The Important of Being Ernest

Some films delight even when they don’t quite hit the mark. Based on Oscar Wilde’s play—loosely—the ensemble cast is magnificent and makes up for any shortfalls of being true to Wilde. Rupert Everett and Judi Dench shine, as does Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Anne Massey and Tom Wilkerson. Oliver Parker wrote and directed his version of this famous play. Miramax distributed the lovely diversion, as they do most of the best art and ‘indie’ films.

METAPHYSICAL OVERVIEW
The importance of words and their sounds and meanings is the undercurrent of most of Wilde’s writings, as is explored humorously in "…importance…"

Undercover Brother

Eddie Griffith as the Undercover Brother delivers slap stick and cool with equal flair, with solid support from David Chappelle, Aunjanue Ellis, Chi McBride and Chris Kattan. Billy Dee Williams cameos as General Boutwell. Really played for laughs and quite deliveries. Urban Media, Imagine and Universal Pictures produced this action flick with heavy doses of comedy, delivering summer humor with panache.

METAPHYSICAL OVERVIEW
Laughing is good, gasping with laughter is better, which is all this movie wants for you.
