An estimated 70 million Americans suffer with a form of heart disease. Above AIDS and cancers, it is the leading cause of death among both men and women in the United States. Known as the "silent killer," the first and sometimes only symptom of heart disease is a fatal heart attack. In this year alone, 1.5 million Americans will suffer a heart attack and approximately 500,000 will die. For years people have been concerned about falling victim to this disease and spend millions in prevention, exercise, vitamins etc. However, the fact remains that until now there has not been one single test available to detect extremely early stages of heart disease, which would provide the individual the opportunity to repair and prevent the damage brought on by the "silent killer" before it is too late. The only solutions available to the public, until now, is a annual physical, a healthy diet and regular exercise. Yet, statistics show thousands of physically fit, trim and health conscious individuals suddenly collapse with a heart attack, boggling everyone's understanding of what prevents heart disease. Now, after decades of research to find ways to not only fight this disease, but to detect it in its earliest stages, a revolutionary invention of Imatron's Ultra fast CT coronary artery scan, has been heralded as "the most powerful predicator of a heart attack." A method known as Coronary Artery Scanning aka Cardio Scan is the most accurate and sensitive noninvasive method of detecting the presence and extent of early aertherio sclerosis. It creates a 3D image of the data as well as a computed "calcium score". In this simple procedure, a CT tech applies a few EKG leads, and asks you to lie on a table and hold your breath a few times. No intravenous injections are required and radiation exposure is minimal, while 33-40 pictures are taken in an open scanner. The scan results are reviewed by the cardiologist on staff at the center if it is a heart scan only, or shipped to UCLA and reviewed by their Radiology Dept. if it is a lung or full body scan. The results are then sent to the physician and/or patient, depending on the instructions of the patient. It should be noted that there have been occasions that the results have revealed a life threatening condition and the physician is notified immediately. This scanning procedure used to provide a full scan of the lungs and body is far superior to a chest X-ray for the diagnosing and staging of lung cancer. According to the World Health Organization, over one billion people worldwide are at risk for lung cancer, staggering figures that may be controlled if detected early enough. The full body scan is an exciting revolution as well, revealing early staging of a multitude of issues that are not normally detected until the problem has progressed to sometimes dangerous or irreparable conditions. Another unique benefit to this scanning procedure is the flexibility it offers the patient. A doctor's prescription or referral is not required and it is approximately 25% of the cost one would pay in a hospital. We have found that many insurances that promote preventive and wellness care may cover this procedure. Body Scan Imaging Center, which uses the Electron Beam Tomography (EBT), has now opened a center in Las Vegas. Recognizing the need for safe, low cost, non-invasive testing, particularly for heart, lung disease and cancer, Body Scan Imaging LLC has centers across the country using the Imatron EBT scanner to help people with early diagnosis. If you have questions or wish to find out if your insurance company covers this procedure, just contact Margaret or Jim at the Las Vegas Body Scan Imaging Center and they will assist you in obtaining the correct information. As an example of the effectiveness of this procedure, I was told about Timothy (name changed for privacy), a professional soccer player. Divine guidance was working with the young man and it was a blessing he listened. Being in good health, extremely active and a believer in maintaining wellness in his life, he decided to try a new disease prevention technique known as a Cardio Scan; just to make sure all was well. The doctors and technicians found Timothy had a severe calcium blockage in his artery and they immediately alerted his physician. Three days later he had heart bypass surgery, which saved his life. After reviewing various methods of heart disease, lung disease and cancer prevention methods available to the public, it is very apparent that receiving a cardio scan is an essential element to good health and peace of mind. Note It is important for me to let you the reader know I did undergo a full body scan, and it truly is a remarkable tool. There were issues that had been undetected in my normal medical tests, that were extremely vital to my health, and if they went untreated could become a life-threatening problem. I know this is a test I will gladly take every few years to maintain my health.
