  Giving Yourself Permission
To Make Changes

By Doreen Virtue

I was hoping that's what my angels would say!" is a comment I frequently hear when I give an angel reading. Most of us pray for help with a job or relationship, or other life challenges. In response, our angels give us guidance about how to change those situations. Yet, we resist following this guidance because of fear. We fear things will get worse if we change them. We fear making a mistake, disappointing people, or making people angry. We also fear our own success, power, and happiness. So, we stay stuck and afraid. Meanwhile, our angels are pushing us to make changes, so on top of everything, we feel guilty about not following our Divine guidance. Help!

This is where angel readers really bring blessings to clients. Sometimes, you need an outside person to validate your own internal guidance. So, when an angel reader says, "Your angels are guiding you to make this life change," you may feel more confident about making that change, because your gut feelings were validated by the angel reader.

But how can we learn to trust our own Divine guidance, and avoid the need for an outside person to validate us? Can't we learn to give ourselves permission to follow our angels' advice?

The answer is, of course, "Yes!" And it is doubly important, since Archangel Michael has asked us to work on developing more trust this year. Here are some practical ways to buoy your trust

Keep a journal of your psychic impressions and gut feelings, including the ones you didn't follow (and wish you had!). Having a written record of how accurate your intuitive is will help you trust it more.

Go for it! Even if you're not sure, try following your hunch next time. Experimentation will help you to fine-tune your ability to distinguish true from false guidance. Don't be afraid to make a mistake; it's how we learn.

Pray for trust. Fear keeps us from enjoying full faith, and the angels are happy to roll away the boulder of fear if we'll ask.

Write your fears on pieces of paper, and put those papers in your refrigerator's freezer compartment for at least three months. You'll freeze your fears in this way.

Remember true Divine guidance is repetitive and gives us small, incremental steps to follow. Is there a thought or feeling you've been getting consistently, urging you to do something? Take that step, and then you'll get another set of Divine instructions to take the next step. One baby step at a time-great goals are accomplished.

Put the following phrase on a piece of paper and post it everywhere, and put it under your pillow at night, "Change is a part of life. I now surrender all worries about HOW these changes will occur to God and the angels. I know that heaven is lovingly guiding me right now, in ways that bring blessings to me, my loved ones, and people everywhere. My only job is to hold positive thoughts and expectations, and to follow my Divine guidance one step at a time."
