Others are met by angels or guides, and still other older souls are comfortable with making the journey alone. There are varying descriptions of a central meeting place, a life review process and finally the return to our soul group. This is often an emotional experience since it is within our soul group that much of the time between lives is spent, working on a communal lesson. These souls tend to be the people we incarnate with again and again throughout our lifetimes. After a time, the soul is ready to incarnate into a physical body again and goes through what Dr. Newton describes as a "Life Selection" process. It is during this process, with the assistance of higher spirits, that the soul chooses the body type, parents and situations that will lead to the most advancement along the soul's path in the upcoming physical existence. This path involves an ongoing lesson that is shared by other members of the soul group. That is why we often share lives with the same people but in different situations from lifetime to lifetime. Then it is time for the return to a body and another opportunity to learn and grow in the physical realm.
