Dyana Ray

Are you living your purpose? Do you know what it is? If not, you may want to read Dan Millman’s book, The Life You Were Born to Live - A Guide to Finding Your Life Purpose. The italicized paragraph about my purpose brought tears to my eyes when I first read it.

When we receive this kind of confirmation, instead of utilizing the tools that may help us continue towards our destiny, we tend to focus on our fears, and we seem to stop progressing until we have found some way to overcome it.

Isn’t it time we become more conscious of our thoughts and create positive awareness and action? Recently, Feng Shui expert, Kristie L. Allan said: “Courage — love yourself enough to love yourself a lot.”

We all know our fears hold us back and we talk about walking through them. Instead of dealing with the fear, wouldn’t it be better if we would find the courage to take action and move forward in spite of the fear? I find this not only sounds better, it feels better. It doesn’t eliminate the fear, just changes our approach to it.

In Astro-Numerology, A New Look at an Ancient Mystic Art, by Rose Murray, I found if I changed the spelling of my name, even my whole name, some shifts might take place. It was fun thinking about doing this and finding the “right” vibrations. Then, there was resistance: “What will my friends - my parents! - think?” “I like my name!” Kristie tells her Feng Shui clients, “If you don’t love it, get rid of it!” A numerologist friend and I kept playing around, and we found a name and spelling — that I love - that will help manifest the courage needed to pursue my purpose.

As I originally typed this article, I did not change the full name, only the spelling of the first name. When I read it over, I listened to what I had written. What I observed is that I was putting my foot forward, yet doing the Hokey Pokey as I pulled most of it back by only being willing (having the courage) to change the first name. I did my little dance, and it’s finished. Not only have I put the foot forward, I have completed the step by bringing my whole body forward and in alignment, ready to take the next step. You now see the “new me” at the top of this article and things are already changing!

Quoting the same card, #22 Purpose, by Meredith Young-Sowers, she gives a hypothetical conversation between you and the Universe:

You say: “Please show me the means of finding what I’m to do with my life.”

We say: “…you are already doing your work.

You say: “Yes, but I want to know now what to do. I’m tired of searching and waiting, and I have bills to pay…”

We say: “Trust, relax, pay attention to the voice of your spirit, and follow it into your joy - this is your work. Press onward into this essence of joy, do those things without pay, without regard for praise, recognition, or even encouragement, and acts quietly and humbly performed will turn into the job that pays you or the means of doing and accomplishing the work that needs doing in ways supported by the physical world.”

I had pulled this card a few times and agreed I have been living my purpose in several ways. However, it didn’t really translate from my intellect to my heart until watching a friend recognize it for herself.

When I picked up Millman’s book today, I realized here are some of the tools I’ve looked at and had basically ignored. In using the suggested tools, I readdressed a choice previously made that was keeping me from expanding more fully into my purpose.

Will you remain stuck in, and with, the fears in an attempt to “deal” with them? Or do you have the courage to “ love yourself enough”, to take that small step forward to overcome the challenges that appear to be keeping you from living your life’s purpose? Do you have the courage to take that small action that will create the love, confidence and joy you know is yours as your purpose unfolds before you with each small step and where you will ultimately find you will “love yourself a lot”?

It’s Your Choice!

P.S. To reinforce that new-found courage, you may want to write “courage” on a piece of paper and keep it where you will see it daily for added reinforcement. Another fun idea is to try the Young Living Essential Oils blend, Valor, which means “to be strong, courageous or brave”.
