My dear friends, what a month it has been. The earthquake in Turkey, the hurricanes that threaten our coastlines, the gunmen who would destroy life by killing innocent people. All around us is chaos and as the world continues to focus on this radical energy it only serves to bring more of the same…yet, it is also a blessing in so many ways.

As I stop and think about it, I realize that growth of spirit, of conscious awareness, comes as a result of such chaos. It’s almost like a form of "shock treatment" to our minds. Such events "awaken" us to the plight of humanity and also give us the opportunity to see into the hearts of humankind. It challenges us to make a difference and to look at our perceptions of how we view society.

Indeed our world is going through a major shift and as the energies escalate there are countless opportunities for each of us to discover who we are in relationship to ourselves and the world as a whole.

How do we fit into the overall scheme of life? How can we, as individuals, make a difference…especially to those around the globe? Perhaps it’s as simple as waking up in the morning and choosing to recognize our presence in the moment. We are not helpless (unless we do nothing) in changing our world. No one person is excluded from the responsibility and yes, one person does make a difference. We all make a difference because we are all interconnected on some level. Think about it, where can one go to find "nothingness?" Wherever we look there is creation brought about by thoughts and actions. Therefore, when looking around at our masterpieces what do we see? Are they filled with people, laughter, peace, joy, love? Is there a sense of belonging or is the world of our minds filled with fears, darkness and hopelessness?

Recently I have been listening to a series of tapes by Marianne Williamson on living life. Marianne talks about filling our minds with thoughts of God, the representative of all good and love, — thus leaving no room for the darkness to penetrate. It makes sense to me and I found it worked. Taking life too seriously can most definitely create a vortex of energy that inhibits the free flow of Spirit in all its’ forms. Life is simple they say; it is only our minds which make it complex. Now the question is…what is it we truly desire in this lifetime? The drama and complexity of darkness or the vortex of nothingness which embraces all things in the simplicity of Spirit. We are powerful…just look around at our creations. What do you see? What is your role of action in your personal world? Take care.
