 From The Publisher...Michelene K. Bell It has been a wild and woolly month — this past July. Many of us have lived through what has been deemed the “100-year flood” of Las Vegas... some untouched by the waters and others devastated. I found myself entranced with the television the day of the rains and was amazed to witness the heroics of people in coming to the assistance of stranded motorists, homeowners and those who had no where to go after their homes were destroyed by Mother Nature. I know I felt strange as I sat there, unable to work on the computer due to the tremendous thunder and lightening overhead; unable to do anything but watch in total disbelief. It was miraculous that more lives were not lost and, in fact, I found myself in tears as my heart filled with joy as I witnessed the goodness of people as they rescued those in need. Yes, there is hope for us as a human race, there are people who care. I believe that the challenge now lies in continuing to work in unison with each other and not wait for another catastrophe to reconnect with those in trouble. Sure, chances are that until another “Act of God” or “Mother Nature” arises we will once more step onto our merry-go-round of daily life and the dilemma of others will fade into the back recesses of our memories. And yet, through the July 8, 1999 “100-year” flood, Mother Nature helped to show us our true hearts in her wake of destruction. Yes, there is a positive side of this July flood... people came together for kindred souls in need and they opened their hearts and homes thus showing the depth of their love and caring. There is indeed good in all things, all situations; we have only to look for them. I am glad to be alive on this Earth plane and to glean so much hope from the actions of others. So as the New Millennium arrives with its myriad of opportunities I am reminded that our world is on the brink of greatness due to the massive heart connection with all living beings. My prayer, this day would be, that we all discover that heroic heart that beats within us with the realization that love is a powerful moving force. In Love and Light, Michelene PS |
